Episode 291 | Recklessly Alive: Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness with Sam Eaton
In today's episode of Psych Talk, I chat with Sam Eaton, author, speaking and founder of the Recklessly Alive Foundation. Sam shares his own mental health journey, including his experience with suicidality. We discuss the Recklessly Alive Foundation, a suicide prevention organization, and what inspired Sam to create it. We then dive into a discussion about the power of connection in mental health, including people turning to the internet for social connection, the risks of digital connection becoming a substitute for real, in person connection, and how people who are struggling with their mental health can start creating meaningful connections. Sam shares about his third book You Can Do This , including the seven core principles in his book and how they can help someone with their mental health. We end the discussion by talking about small steps individuals can take to start improving their emotional wellbeing, as well as what individuals can do to support a loved one who is struggling with their mental health. Information shared by guests on Psych Talk are reflective of their own values, perspectives, and life experiences. Psych Talk values platforming various perspectives and experiences even if those views are not necessarily reflective of Psych Talk’s values and perspectives.
