Kaytlyn defines for listeners what CPTSD is and some signs and symptoms of the disorder. We discuss how CPTSD is not currently recognized as an official diagnosis in the DSM and how this impacts individuals receiving an accurate diagnosis and the clinical care they receive. Kaytlyn discusses what BPD is and some common misconceptions about BPD. We discuss similarities and differences between CPTSD and BPD, as well as misdiagnoses when it comes to individuals who have experienced complex trauma. We end the discussion by talking about therapeutic approaches that are best suited for individuals who have experienced complex trauma and/or are diagnosed with BPD.
